DNA Copper
Nile has been working with copper and sheet metal for over 20 years and I have always been creative. So about 5 years ago I signed us up to make a chair for the Boys & Girls Club "Chair Affair" fundraiser. We had no idea what it would look like and Nile had never made a chair before. He gave me one of those looks and said what have you gotten me into? The chair was beautiful.. and so, dnA Copper was born.
We have been having fun working together ever since. Nile does most of the fabricating and I do most of the designing and creating. All of our art starts from a large sheet of copper. The wall art is probably the most fun because the sky's the limit with size, shape and patina. Some pieces take less than a week to make and others can take several.
Some of my favorite pieces were mistakes. We love to
create water fountains too.. each one is unique and starts out as a drawing
on a piece of paper. This is where we can really WOW our customers. We show
them the plan, do some cutting, bending, pounding, soldering and then walla...
it's a beautiful fountain with water flowing or falling into a pool, making
the most wonderful sound.
We plan to be at Thursdays on First this summer selling our art. This will be our 3rd summer.. I love meeting new people and telling them about our work.
